Not quite like plants. Facepunch says livestock genes “won’t behave exactly like plants”, so plant tricks may not work here.
Good genes sell for more. Lead a grown animal to the Stables and the vendor outside makes a random offer based on its genes. You get three offers; turn down all three and he won’t buy for 15 minutes.
Wool: up to 400 per trade. The same vendor buys wool, again with three offers. The more you bring in one go, the better the offers, up to 400 wool.
