Is three donors enough?
Often, yes. Two matching greens in a slot (0.6 + 0.6 = 1.2) beat any single gene, so three donors that agree in pairs can fix every slot. Three clones that are each one gene off GGGYYY, in different slots, give exactly that around any spare plant: each flaw is outvoted by the other two. With more flaws to fix, the extra room in a large planter helps.
Every planter compared
| Planter | Most donors | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Large Planter Box, Railroad Planter | 8 | A 3×3 grid, diagonals count: middle 8, edge 5, corner 3. The best for breeding. |
| Triangle Planter, Triangle Railroad Planter | 3 | Three corners and a middle, all touching. |
| Small Planter Box, Bathtub Planter | 2 | A row of three: the middle touches both ends, the ends don't touch. |
| Minecart Planter | 1 | One neighbour can only pass on red genes. Grow one plant, or two identical clones. |
| Plant Pot | 0 | Never crossbreeds: the safest place for a clone you can't lose. |
Try any of them with your own clones in the Planter Lab.
